The adhesive properties of protective films come from the glue used in their manufacturing process. There are different types of adhesives used for protective films. One type is acrylic adhesive, whose main component is ester. The ester content of the adhesive directly affects the performance of the protective film. It offers excellent peelability, strong film cohesion, high transparency, and does not peel off, leaving no residue on the substrate. It is suitable for manufacturing protective films with low, medium, and high viscosity.

Another type is silicone adhesive, developed from acrylic adhesives. The application of silicone helps prevent air bubbles during the application process. Silicone is mainly used in screen protectors made from PET substrates.

A third type is rubber-based adhesive, whose main raw material is rubber. Compared to acrylic adhesive-based protective films, it has a much wider range of applications. Therefore, it can use protective films with higher viscosity, making it particularly suitable for applications with complex post-processing, such as stamping processes on stainless steel and aluminum plates.

Regardless of the type of adhesive used, the application method for screen protectors is the same: first, use a cleaning cloth to wipe away dust and oil from the screen surface; otherwise, dust and bubbles may occur after application. Each screen protector has three layers: the bottom film is labeled "1," the top release film is labeled "2," and gently peel off the bottom film "1."

Therefore, water-soluble protective films have a broad prospect in my country. At present, the main material of protective films in China is polyvinyl alcohol. It is non-toxic, does not inhibit the reproduction of organisms, and does not have an impact on the environment. Therefore, polyvinyl alcohol protective films have a certain position in the market.
