1. Surface Preparation (Most Important Step):
Surfaces must be perfectly clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, grease, and old sealant.
Clean the aluminum with a cloth and a solvent like isopropyl alcohol or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK). Allow it to fully evaporate.
Remove any loose or failing old sealant.

2. Masking:
Use painter's tape to mask both sides of the joint. This ensures clean, professional lines and protects adjacent surfaces.

3. Application:
Cut the nozzle at a 45-degree angle to the desired bead size.
Load the cartridge into a caulking gun and apply a consistent bead into the joint, ensuring it completely fills the gap and contacts both sides.

4. Tooling:
Immediately after application, use a tooling tool or a finger (dipped in a soapy water solution to prevent sticking) to smooth and compress the bead. This creates a concave profile that ensures good adhesion and sheds water effectively.

5. Finishing:
Carefully remove the masking tape before the sealant forms a "skin" (usually within 10-20 minutes).
Allow the sealant to cure fully as per the manufacturer's instructions (typically 24-72 hours, depending on temperature and humidity) before exposing it to water.
